 We contacted James during our kitchen remodel with the idea of a walnut butcher island. James walked us through the options and recommendations for our use (heavy cooking with children). The island is the centerpiece of our kitchen and we could not be happier with the outcome.  There is a personal touch here that is uncommon in the home remodels, like letting my young boys help with the install and explaining the process to us the whole way.  After a kitchen flood my husband and I took the opportunity to rethink our kitchen/dining room. After contacting a few different places and being turned down, James was willing to take on our wild idea with enthusiasm. Both Jake and James came over and scoped our idea of converting our separate island and dining room table into one gigantic functional island/dining room table-in-one. I was very specific in the wood design in matching my previous (much smaller kitchen table).
The base came fairly quickly, but it did take several months for the top to be completed (pandemic shortage in wood). Regardless, the wait was worth it. My husband is a detail-oriented engineer, and he was blown away at the craftmanship. The pictures do not do it justice.

Our large family has many years of memories of meals and family game nights at this table to come. We are beyond excited. Thank you James & Jake (and Ella!)!

 The folks at Boise Custom Furniture/Mahogany House Woodworks (James, Mike & Jake) took our idea for two matching cabinets, to be placed in recessed areas on each side of our fireplace, and turned the idea into two beautiful custom pieces.  Each piece has two soft-close doors with two understated silver pulls that conceal a spring action drawer that sits over each of the two storage areas.  What pulls it all together beautifully is the reddish-colored finish that brings out and accents the grain of the wood.  We couldn’t be happier with our new custom cabinets.

 We’ve been using our new 16”x20” maple cutting block from MHW for about a month now and love how it looks and how it cuts with our honed blades. Nothing like our old softwood board!
